Case Analysis:
To be effective, this must be done by the entire team. All members must read, understand, and
contribute to the analysis and solution discussions for the case. In other words, delegating cases to
individual members to complete in totality is counter-productive and usually results in poor marks for
the assignment and for individual exam marks because of the missed learning opportunity. However,
once the analysis and solution discussion are complete, a team may delegate the writing and
production of the report to a couple of team members provided it does not unfairly land on the same
people to write and produce for most of the cases.
Team Work:
Teams will perform a case analysis that includes looking through the evidence of the case, agreeing
upon the most urgent and significant problem and defining it, analyzing the problem to determine its
root cause, generating various solutions to the problem, and designing a plan to implement the
solution in terms a decision-maker can act upon. Push yourselves as a team to use creative problem-
solving techniques to recommend some “out-of-the-box” solutions.
Case Report:
Teams will write a report of their case analysis directed to the person who will authorize the
recommended solution to be implemented. This report is not an academic study that one would
submit to a professor for grading but rather a report you would submit to an executive in your
company when you are deep into your career.
Reports will be written in concise, professional business language, using diagrams, illustrations, charts,
etc. to tell the full story of your analysis. The report must be brief but comprehensive enough to.
persuade the decision-maker to go with your team’s recommendation.
